What Different Styles of Bath Are Available?

Aside from the sink and the toilet, the bathtub is what most people see as soon as they walk into your bathroom. Because of this it is important that you choose not only a bathtub that you like, but one that goes with the overall theme of your entire bathroom. This is where you will need to take a step back and figure out exactly what type of bathroom you have. For instance, if you have a modern bathroom, then you will want a modern bathtub and so on. There are a number of different types of bathtubs, so let's take a look at the basic models that are available out there:

Cast Iron: If your bathroom has more of an antique style, then this is definitely the way you want to go. You will get the antique feel and it will look quite elegant. If you do decide to install one of these you need to think about it long and hard. The first problem is that these can be particularly difficult to clean, and if you put it off you might find that your tub is not very appealing to bathe in anymore. The other problem is that they are very heavy. If you have an upstairs bathroom make sure that your floor can support it. The last thing you want is your bathtub falling through the ceiling and crushing your plasma television.

Circular: A circular bathroom is something that you will find in very large bathrooms. Installed in a smaller bathroom, this would BE the bathroom. Unless you're not a fan of sanitation, that is not an option. The good thing about these is that you can install multiple taps so that you can either fill the tub faster or sit anywhere you want while filling it up. Just remember that these create a serious space issue.

Modern: These will be made of steel, plastic, and acrylic. They're lightweight, but they are also very, very tough. Do you remember the days when we said we would have flying cars in the 21st century? We never developed those, but we do have bathtubs that one person can carry alone. That might not make up for the decline in technology, but it certainly is the next best thing.

Normal: Normal bath tubs will not cost you as much money as the others. They can be installed in any bathroom and they typically hug the wall. Buy them at any store that sells tubs.

These are a few of the bathtub types that are available. Remember that the best thing to do is assess your own needs and look at the style of your bathroom. These will tell you exactly what you need to get, but if you are unsure then you could always seek the advice of a professional decorator. In any case, make sure your bathroom is attractive and that it fits the theme. While you're bathing it might not make a difference, but when you walk in and look at your bathroom, it will make you feel better to know you made the right decision.

Decorating your Bathroom – Choosing a Bath

If you are redecorating your bathroom then one of the most important decisions you’ll need to make is to choose the right bath. As the largest item of bathroom furniture its size and positioning will play a major part in the final look of the room. Of course when choosing your decision will be influenced by how much space you have available and other factors such as who will be using the bathroom. There are a variety of different types and styles of baths available.

Shower Baths

Particularly in smaller bathrooms it is common for the bath and shower to be combined into one unit. This is ideal for people who would like the choice of having a bath or a shower but do not have enough room for both separately. When installing this type of bath care must be taken to ensure that water can’t leak down between the bath rim and the tile work.

Freestanding Baths

Freestanding baths are a decorative option for your bathroom adding an extra touch of style and luxury. Common in period homes a freestanding bath is particularly suited to larger bathrooms in which there is an abundance of space. This style of bath has increased in popularity in recent years and in now a feature in many modern bathrooms.

Freestanding baths are now available in a variety of sizes, lengths and depths meaning they are no longer impractical for use by children or the elderly. This type of bath is usually heavy than built in models so before you buy you need to be sure that your floor is able to support the weight.

Whirlpool Baths

If you would like to add that extra touch of luxury to your home then a whirlpool bath is a great choice. Although by no means a cheap option whirlpool baths have become increasingly popular in recent years after becoming more easily affordable to homeowners. Whirlpool baths are available in a variety of shapes and sizes and so one can be found to fit in just about any bathroom.

Bathing Tips: Which Makes your Bath Different

Beautiful skin, a beautiful body and a beautiful sense of style does not have an end once you hit 50s. There’s very little difference between the recommended diet and exercise
habits for a 20-year-old and that of a 50-year-old. In fact, the only difference is that a healthy diet and regular exercise are more important than ever. During the aging process, the key to keeping your body properly functioning and in shape is to eat healthy and stay active. Sunbathing in solarium is completely safe. Safe sunbathing does not exist, neither on sun neither in solarium, but it is possible to make it less risky by using certain principles. Light a scented candle or two and place them in strategic locations so the light can flicker on the water and in the mirror. An oil burner that contains essential oil can also help radiate fragrance throughout the room.

Bathing can be made a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Making the right kind of arrangements in the bathroom and adding the right kind accessories in the bathroom can make your bath refreshing and soothing. Mechanism is similar as in case of anorexia. Sick people take advantage in each chance to take just a bit of ultraviolet. Sunbathing in solarium is completely safe. Safe sunbathing does not exist, neither on sun neither in solarium, but it is possible to make it less risky by using certain principles. Sunny radiation is in big part UVB causing fast turn of epidermus into red colour. Lamps in solarium emit UVA rays, mainly reaching to deeper skin coats. It is worth knowing, that 15 minutes spent in solarium skin will remember as whole day spent on sun.

Bathing Tips

1. Start running the bath using water that's only slightly hotter than normal; water that is too hot can be hard on the skin and may cause problems over the long haul.

2. Spoil yourself with luxurious, fragrant soaps and bath oils.

3. While you're soaking, take the time to gently, and I mean gently, buff a washcloth over your body. A loofah can be used providing it is not too harsh and you don't have sensitive skin.

4. Try not to get nervous, excited, or threatening to the person who objects to taking a bath.

5. Using a body exfoliant in the bath is an excellent way to clear the skin of dead cells and help in its natural renewal process. This gives a healthy glow to the skin.

6. Avoid getting into lengthy discussions about whether a bath is needed.

7. You should skin a shower as often as you can. This may not seem like appealing advice but the more time you have in between the showers, the better. Skip a shower for a whole day once or twice a week, especially in the winter. Allow your skin to produce and maintain its natural oils.

Your bathing should not go for any more than 15 - 20 minutes. Regularly soaking for long periods - especially in hot water - is actually not best for the long-term health of the skin. Oversaturating the skin with water can break down its immune/healing response and can actually make it drier.

Soaking Bathtubs - True Bathing Luxury

How luxurious is your bathtub? Is it roomy enough for more than one person or is it so small you can't even stretch your legs in it? Chances are that unless you have kids, your bathtub is rarely even used. Instead it basically functions as the drain for your shower. So why even have a bathtub if you can't use it? Bathtubs allow for long, soothing soaks – giving your body the chance to relax and repair. However, if your bathtub isn't big enough for even a basic bath, you're missing out on the finer things in life.

Soaking Bathtubs - the Only Way to Bath

If you want the opportunity to relax in your own tub or share a romantic glass of champagne with a loved one, you need to upgrade your tub to a soaking bathtub. Soaking bathtubs are basically tubs that allow you to, well, soak. They are much larger and deeper than standard bathtubs, allowing you to completely submerge your body. They also are much roomier and more giving when it comes to occupancy. Soaking bathtubs are great for long relaxing baths after a hard days work and of course, for bubble baths. Soaking bathtubs don't necessarily come with fancy whirlpool attachments and gizmos, but they do offer much more versatility, capacity, and function.

Options and Styles

Soaking bathtubs come in a number of different variations. Some lay flat on the ground while others have vintage-styled claw feet. Some are even made of special materials that help keep warm water warm longer and won't chip over time. However, the overall beauty of soaking bathtubs is their style. They normally aren't intended to be boxed in or placed in a framework; rather, they stand alone. As a result, you need to make sure your bathroom has the capacity to contain such a tub. In some cases, the plumbing will need to be altered to handle the faucet and drain configuration. However, the luxury and comfort soaking bathtubs bring to your bathroom make it all worth it.

How to Select Your Soaking Tub

If you want to renovate your bathroom and install a brand new soaking bathtub, you need to verify a few things. First off, you need to make sure you have room for a soaking tub. Soaking bathtubs tend to be much larger than your standard tubs, so measure the space you have and then see what options are available to you. You also want to check your plumbing. As mentioned prior, you may need to reconfigure some pipes to accommodate a new tub. If you're unsure, check with a professional plumber. And finally, you need to make sure your floor can handle the extra weight. Since soaking bathtubs are often larger and hold much more water than your standard tub, there is more weight involved. In most cases, this won't be an issue; but depending on the condition of your home, you might want to consult a home inspector just to check the integrity of your bathroom. Years and years of water damage can weaken a floor. The worst thing you could do is install a tub without checking and end up structural damage or cracked floors.

If you want to experience what it's like to soak for hours in a nice warm bath, then you need a soaking bathtub. Soaking bathtubs give you much more leg room and are often roomy enough to accommodate more than one person. So if you want to bring luxury into your bathroom, get a soaking bathtub.

You Can Make Aromatic Bath Salts!

People use aromatic bath salts for multiple reasons. Bath salts can help to relieve stress and increase energy as well as improve mood. Each of the many scents has a purpose. Aromatic bath salts are also an easy craft project for those of you who are creative, and they are even fun projects for those of us who aren't so creative. Aromatic bath salts are great to give as gifts or to display in your guest bathroom. If you do not want to make your own you can purchase them pre-made as well.

When making bath salts you need only a few ingredients; the salt and fragrance along with baking soda. For the salt you can use many different types, commonly used salts when making aromatic bath salts are Epsom Salt, Sea Salt or Rock Salt. The best types are the courser, large grained salts. Table salt is not ideal because of the additives but you can purchase and use non-iodized table salt if you wish.

For the fragrance, scented oils or herbs can be used. This is when it gets fun and tricky at the same time. If you are using essential or fragranced oils you need to be sure the ones you choose are for use in bath products. There are oils specifically made for craft projects that are not safe for use in the bath.

If you want to have an herbal bath you can layer the fresh herbs and salt in a glass jar and cover tightly with a plastic lid (or put plastic wrap over, then cover with the lid it if is metal). Allow this mixture to rest for two to three weeks for the salts to soak up the scents of the herbs then remove the herbs and you have aromatic bath salts that you can use to take a soothing herbal bath.

Most simple recipes on line have you add baking soda to the salts to treat the water and give you soft water to bathe in. The guidelines usually have you put the salt and baking soda in the tub as the water runs and then add your oils just before you get into the water. This does make a great aromatic bath but placing the salts into the tub instead of into a bottle makes it difficult to display or give as gifts. When using this type of recipe be careful, especially if you intend to bottle the product. It is possible to have a chemical reaction when baking soda is mixed with some ingredients and you don't want to be known as the one who gave away explosive bath salts.

Aromatic bath salts are easy to make but, as with most things, you have to be cautious. With any recipe you get for aromatic bath salts it is important to test the recipe before giving them away and do your homework before blindly mixing ingredients that have a potential to pose safety risks. Use sources that you know or that someone you know has used with good results. If you don't have any that fall into that category use sources that you trust.

Aromatic bath salts are a great way to relax, and they can be displayed in the bathroom without adding them to your bath and still be enjoyed. Use caution when using essential oils. It only takes a couple drops for a whole tub of water, and if you use too much it can cause skin irritation. The essential oils used in the bath salts will with time lose their aroma. Essential oils usually only last for 2 years, after that they expire and you will need a new bottle.
