Bathroom fixtures can be a big part of your renovating budget so you should think carefully about them. If you do not have the money for a full bathroom renovation, replacing some of the bathroom fixtures can update the look of the bathroom


Do you need to replace every fixture in the bathroom; the bathtub may be in good condition but the faucets may be old and outdated and need replacing, replacing a shower or bathtub can be expensive so it may make more sense to have the surface of the bathtub resurfaced or replace the shower curtain with a glass door.


Once you have decided what can stay and what needs replacing where you find your new fixtures. Your contractor may want you to let him buy your fixtures because he can get a discount from the supplier but while it's true that contractors can get discounts, some will not pass the discount on to the customer. Check the prices and get quotes from your local hardware or plumbing supplier. You may find it is cheaper to buy them yourself.


Sometimes auctions, estate sales, and even secondhand stores have new or near new bathroom fixtures that you can pick up cheap, just make sure that they are in good condition , It's usually not a good idea to buy faucets that have been used. Faucets have moving parts, and they can experience quite a bit of wear and tear over the years. So if you buy them secondhand the may only last a couple of years and then need replacing which costs more in the long run. If you have checked your local suppliers, the estate sales etc and you still have not found what you want try online, you will find many great bathroom suppliers.


You may even find they are cheaper than the local supplier. Bathroom renovation can be expensive but that doesn’t mean you can not have expensive items in it. You just have to compromise elsewhere and do a bit of work in finding cheaper versions of other items. A lot of the time you can find a cheaper item that looks just like a more expensive item So what ever you are doing have fun finding the great bargains and you will soon have the bathroom of your dreams with some really nice bathroom fixtures.
